Andy England is a Los Angeles-based painter and mixed media artist whose work explores the quiet poetry of urban life. With degrees in mathematics, he began his career in a world of structure and logic. Over time, he felt drawn toward a more intuitive, visual form of expression—one that embraced ambiguity, emotion, and the tactile. He transitioned into art through hands-on mentorships rather than formal art school, developing his practice in his home studio and on long walks through LA’s diverse neighborhoods.

Andy’s work is rooted in observation. Using painting, collage, and photography, he documents the overlooked corners of city life: coke bottles, trash bins, telephone poles, neon signs—everyday objects rendered with reverence and restraint. His aesthetic favors simplification, capturing scenes that feel simultaneously familiar and idealized. The absence of human figures in his work invites contemplation of presence through absence, evoking a kind of urban still life where time slows and space breathes. Though his subjects are often mundane, they are transformed through careful attention and subtle shifts in scale, composition, and color. What first appears as peaceful or static gradually reveals undercurrents of longing and nostalgia.

Andy has exhibited work throughout Southern California and Europe and is a member of both the Los Angeles Art Association and the Arroyo Arts Collective. His art practice continues to be shaped by daily life, city streets, and the enduring tension between chaos and calm.
